Hair extensions, the celebrity secret to great hair
We all want perfect, instagram worthy hair for our wedding. Unfortunately, very few of us are gifted with naturally full, voluminous locks to create those styles we lust after like Victoria Secret waves. Do not worry though, if you don’t have enough hair for the look that inspires you, we have a solution as we won’t let anything get in the way of your dream hair!
CLIP IN HAIR EXTENSIONS
They give you instant fullness, length and beautiful hair. What most people don’t realise is the styles we see on celebrities or models use extensions to make them achievable. Hair extensions blend naturally with your own hair when styled, so no-one will know it’s not all your own hair.
Do you need extensions?
It depends on the style and your amount of hair.
Most of the time if you are having an updo we can get away with skipping extensions by using padding or other secret tricks that we have up our sleeves. Ponytails though, generally need them to create body in the ponytail itself.
If you would like your hair out we normally need to use hair extensions. Extensions create fullness, can be used to add length and most importantly they hold better for style longevity.
For Hollywood or glam waves we recommend a 9 pack on clip ins. 20 inches is the most popular length.
They are also great for half up styles as often there isn’t much natural hair in the half left out so clip in extensions create the fullness to elevate your hairstyle to the next level. For half up styles a pack of clip ins is enough.
If you do have clip in extensions please make sure you have washed them before you bring them along to your trial or hair styling appointment with us. The new coating must be removed as the coating makes the hair shiny and straight so curls don’t last until it has been removed.
How do I order hair extensions?
We recommend Amazing Hair and you can order through us to get our discount (or directly though them but full price applies). We also have a discount code for Zala which is GEMMANICHOLS however they are often out of stock online.
You can pop in to us for a 10 minute colour match in person. This way you can order them in advance and bring them to your trial so you can see the look with them in. If you don’t have time to come and see us Zala do an online colour matching service however their stock levels have been very unreliable. We can also do your colour match at the trial but that does mean they won’t arrive until after your trial.
Most people need 16 - 20 inches for their clip ins so please email us a photo with your hair out and your inspiration photos with the length you would like so we can make a recommendation..
How much are clip in extensions?
Pricing varies between brands, weight, length and amount of pieces. We recommend Amazing hair and Zala as they are both very good value for money. You can order Amazing Hair through us to get a discount.
Can I source my own extensions when you do my hair?
Absolutely you can source your own! As long as you have 100% remy, human hair we can use your extensions for you. We just can’t use synthetic hair because it will melt. We recommend amazing and zala because they are great value and quality and so that we can help you with the colour match for the perfect shade but whatever you like suits us.
Please make sure you have the clip in packs though as opposed to a halo or one big piece of hair as that limits the hairstyling options as we can't divide the hair and place where it is needed.
Should I get tapes fitted or use clip ins?
Nano, tapes or bonds work if your hair is out however, as they can’t be moved around to suit the style they don’t work well for up styles. We definitely prefer clip ins for every style as we can place the hair where it suits the style.
Additionally they won't damage your hair as you can take them out before bed or before swimming and simply pop them in whenever you have an event.
No halo's or one big piece of hair please, separate clip ins are always best so we can tailor them to suit the hairstyle.
